System Requirements
You are expected to bring your own laptop. It needs to be running Windows XP SP 2 or later, and must have a USB 2.0 (high-speed) port, an 100MB or 1GB Ethernet port, DVD-ROM capable of reading dual-layer discs (which most movies are), and a screen resolution of at least 1024x768 (bigger is better). You should have a minimum of 750MB of memory - although 1GB or more is strongly recommended. If you're running Windows Vista, we recommend 1.5GB or more of memory. You must have local Administrator privileges on the computer, and you must be able to install and run new applications. The only software you need to have pre-installed on your machine is PowerShell v1.0 and a virtualized domain controller running Windows Server 2003 or later that also has PowerShell v1.0 pre-installed. If you can also run a virtualized desktop client for the virtualized domain, that is helpful but not required. The choice of virtualization software is up to you. Everything else is provided in-class. We cannot provide in-class technical support for your laptop. Note that our classes do not include in-room Internet connectivity and we do not permit the use of any wireless networks which happen to be available, nor do we permit the use of cell or broadband modems during class.
